SHILLONG, Oct 2: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has lamented that the blood donation figure in Meghalaya stands at a dismal 18% of the national average.
Lyngdoh, who was part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day observed at Nazareth Hospital on Monday, said communities have to come forward with an open mind to inculcate the practice of regular blood donation.
“Myths and misconceptions in relation to blood donation continue to challenge blood donation in the state,” she said while appealing to citizens in the state to come forward in this critical mission to ensure that Ayushman Bhav and Sewa Pakhwada penetrates every nook and corner of the state.
Over 45 blood donation organisations were felicitated on the occasion.
