Shillong, Oct 6: In an electrifying display of skill and prowess, the Meghalaya Junior Girls’ football team recorded an astounding 11-0 victory over Jammu & Kashmir in their third Group B match of the Junior Girls’ National Football Championship (Tier 2). The match, held in Jaipur, left spectators in awe of Meghalaya’s stellar performance.
Eiladki Ksoo, the star of the day, etched her name in the annals of the tournament with a remarkable five-goal haul. Ksoo’s sensational goals came in the 1st, 45th, 49th, 83rd, and 85th minutes of the game. She now stands proudly among the top five scorers of the tournament, with a total of eight goals to her name.
Adding to Meghalaya’s dominance, Alisha Lyngdoh also showcased her exceptional skills, achieving a hat-trick with goals in the 23rd, 63rd, and 88th minutes. The remaining goals were contributed by Eightfulness Shangdiar (32’), Bira Pyngrope (62’), and Ba Inangsan Langbnang (67’).
With this resounding victory, Meghalaya has won all three of their group stage matches consecutively, demonstrating their championship ambitions.
However, only one team from each of the four groups will advance to the semifinals, making every match crucial.
In Group B, the competition is heating up, with Meghalaya and Uttar Pradesh (UP) emerging as the frontrunners. UP has also won both of their matches in the tournament thus far.
The ultimate showdown between Meghalaya and UP is set for this Sunday, marking Meghalaya’s last group fixture and UP’s penultimate one.
The stakes are high as a victory for Meghalaya in this clash will secure them a coveted spot in the semifinals.
