TURA, Oct 8: The AHAM CEB, Tura has urged the district medical department as well as the state government to look into the issues faced by the people at the Rugapara Health Sub Centre in South Garo Hills.
General secretary of the AHAM, Clinton Marak along with the local GSU and FKJGP leaders, Sengrik Marak and Kalsrang Marak on Saturday inspected the sub centre and found that the centre lacked many facilities. It had only three rooms with limited space.
Medical staff present during the visit informed that the centre should have at least one Labour Room, an ANC Room for pregnant women, an imunisation room, OPD room, Laboratory and a Transit Home. A further inspection of the facility revealed that there were no proper toilets, proper power supply and water supply which are basic requirements for both the staff and patients.
The lone health sub-centre in the area at present caters to the people of more than 34 villages from in and around the area.
Meanwhile, pointing out that the centre is of utmost importance to the people of the area, the organization urged the government and authorities concerned to look into the matter and to equip it with all the necessary facilities at the earliest.
