Shillong, October 15: As preparations for a potential ground incursion or an escalated offensive continue, the IDF has urged Gaza residents in the northern part of the Strip to evacuate.
However, the movement of approximately 1 million people in the area is hampered by roadblocks established by Hamas, causing traffic congestion.
As per India Today, the IDF emphasizes that Hamas obstructs the flow of traffic on key roads in Gaza, making it challenging for residents to move.
Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesman, highlighted Hamas’ active efforts to block and deter the population from heading south, possibly to use them as human shields.
Hagari stated, “We continue to urge the residents of Gaza City to move south for their personal safety. An extensive attack in Gaza City is imminent as we intensify efforts to eliminate the Hamas group.”
Israel previously ordered the evacuation of northern Gaza within 24 hours, home to 1.1 million people, as part of its campaign to weaken Hamas. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties and tensions, with an attack by Hamas on October 7 leading to a large-scale escalation. Israel claims to have eliminated approximately 1,500 Hamas militants within its borders.
