SHILLONG, Oct 14: The LPG woes faced by citizens of the state are likely to be over in two years’ time with the commissioning of the under-construction LPG bottling plant in Ri-Bhoi district.
An Indian Oil Corporation official said the project is expected to be completed in 2025 and once it is commissioned, the plant would have the capacity to produce 30,000 MT of LPG per annum.
As of now, Shillong and other parts of the state are dependent on bottling plants in Assam to meet the demands.
The project cost is around Rs 75 crore but it is likely to go up by the time of its completion, the official said.
The plant would help eliminate cooking gas shortage in the state as well as provide a boost to the local economy through investment in the plant and creation of jobs.
