Shillong, October 16: In a significant development preceding the Telangana assembly elections, the Hyderabad police executed two separate operations resulting in the seizure of valuable assets.

As per IANS, in Miyapur, officers confiscated 27.54 kg of gold jewelry and 15.65 kg of silver ornaments, with a combined value exceeding Rs 15 crore. This substantial find occurred during a routine vehicle check, as three individuals failed to produce necessary documents, prompting the police to seize the precious items and forward them to the Income Tax department for further action.

Furthermore, another operation carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force North Zone Team in conjunction with Gandhi Nagar Police led to the discovery of Rs 2.09 crore in cash from a car. During vehicle inspection in Kavadiguda, Secunderabad, the police apprehended six individuals and impounded both a car and a scooter.

The arrested individuals were identified as Dinesh Kumar Patel, Sachin Kumar Vishnu Bai Patel (known as Sachin), Jithender Patel, Shivraj Naveenbai Modi, Rakesh Patel, and Thakor Nagji Chaturji (also known as Nagji).

This series of actions is part of a broader effort by police and enforcement agencies in Telangana to curb illicit activities and illegal inducements in the lead-up to the assembly elections. Since the imposition of the model code of conduct on October 9, significant assets worth approximately Rs 75 crore have been seized, including Rs 48.32 crore in cash, 37.4 kilograms of gold, 365 kilograms of silver, and 42.203 carats of diamonds, totaling Rs 17.50 crore.

As the crackdown on illegal activities continues, it is estimated that the overall value of confiscated assets has reached a staggering Rs 100 crore. In response to previous complaints of widespread monetary distribution, liquor, and freebies during elections in the state, the Election Commission of India has issued stringent directives to state and central enforcement agencies.

Following a three-day visit earlier this month, the Election Commission reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring inducement-free elections.
