SHILLONG, Oct 16: Cabinet minister and senior BJP leader, AL Hek said on Monday that he will not turn down any offer from the party to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the Shillong seat.
Hek said he was not aware of any report that the party was pushing him to contest the polls.
“It all depends on the central leadership because they will do the necessary survey and choose the best candidate,” Hek said, while making it clear that if the party decides to contest the elections, it should attempt to win and not contest for the sake of it.
He pointed out that people in Meghalaya do not vote for any party but for the candidate as was evident in the last Assembly elections when the BJP did well in two seats and fared badly in other seats.
