Shillong, Oct 17: A contingent of taekwondo athletes hailing from various age groups and diverse weight categories from East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, is gearing up to participate in the highly anticipated 1st Bangabandhu Open International Taekwondo Championships. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from October 19 to 21, 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The East Khasi Hills District Taekwondo Association (EKHDTA) has received a significant boost with the involvement of Master UN Shukla, a seasoned 5th Dan black belt and an internationally recognized referee, who has been specially invited to officiate the championship. This endorsement furtherderscores the caliber of the event and the talent it is set to showcase.
EKHDTA expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Chief Minister of Meghalaya for his unwavering support and personal commitment to ensure that the team is well-prepared and able to participate in this prestigious international championship.
The team, spearheaded by Team Coach Pinky Narzary and Team Manager Teiman Swer, comprises a group of talented and dedicated taekwondo athletes. The participants are, Teinam Swer: Junior Boys (Under-59kg), Rinreiso Luiram: Junior Boys (Under-55kg), Marcellino Rymbai: Cadet Boys (Under-45kg), Clifford Luiram: Cadet Boys (Under-37kg), Yusuf Wanchwa Tariang: Cadet Boys (Under-33kg), San Iktiar Basaiawmoit: Sub-Junior Boys (Under-35kg), Safika Bernis Dkhar: Sub-Junior Girls (Over-40+), Alia Lyngdoh: Sub-Junior Girls (Under-35kg), Pinky Narzary: Poomsae Female (Under-40 years), Zoe Guite Mawthoh: Poomsae Female (Under-50 years), Sabitri: Poomsae Female (Under-60 years)
The East Khasi Hills District Taekwondo Association is poised to make Meghalaya proud as they embark on this exciting journey to Bangladesh, aiming to clinch victory and showcase their exceptional skills on the international stage. The upcoming 1st Bangabandhu Open International Taekwondo Championships promises to be a thrilling spectacle, and all eyes will be on the talented athletes representing Meghalaya, India.
