According to sources the fire incident at the PWD office occurred a day before the massive fire incident at Thana Road that killed at least one person.
The news of the fire incident in the government office surfaced after reliable source informed The Shillong Times on Sunday. As per late report, the second floor of the office building caught fire and several important records and files were gutted in flames.
Sources on Sunday informed that the PWD building interestingly neither has CCTVs or a fire extinguisher which was mandatory as per the government norms.
