Zomato launches comprehensive maternity insurance for female delivery partners

Shillong, October 25: Zomato, the online food delivery platform, has introduced a maternity insurance plan for its female delivery partners.

As per IANS, this insurance covers pregnancy-related expenses, including childbirth and maternity complications, offering assurance and financial security to these delivery partners and their families.

Rakesh Ranjan, CEO of Food Delivery at Zomato, stated, “By introducing comprehensive maternity insurance for gig workers, we are looking to provide extra support during our partners’ journey to motherhood, reinforcing our commitment to their well-being and financial security, and helping them every step of the way.”

Zomato has collaborated with digital insurance provider ACKO to offer this maternity insurance. The coverage is available to female delivery partners who have completed 1000 deliveries on the Zomato platform and have been active for the last 60 days when applying for the maternity insurance plan.

This comprehensive coverage includes both normal and cesarean deliveries for up to two children, as well as maternity complications like miscarriage and abortion. The insurance plan provides up to Rs 25,000 for normal delivery, up to Rs 40,000 for cesarean sections, and up to Rs 40,000 in case of maternity complications such as miscarriage and abortion.
