SUV collides with truck, claiming 12 lives on Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway

Shillong, October 26: In a tragic incident on Thursday, an SUV collided with a parked truck on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway – 44, just outside Chikkaballapur near Bengaluru, resulting in the loss of 12 lives.

As per IANS, two individuals sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The accident was caused by dense morning mist, severely limiting the driver’s visibility.

Chikkaballapur SP D.L. Nagesh reported that the SUV rear-ended the truck, leading to the fatalities. Among the victims, there were two women and ten men, and it was revealed that they were traveling from Andhra Pradesh, according to the SP, who visited the scene. The individuals who lost their lives hailed from Gorantla, Andhra Pradesh, and were residents of Hongasandra in Bengaluru.

Of the 12 casualties, five succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while seven more tragically lost their lives on their way to the hospital. Due to the force of the collision, the car’s doors became jammed, necessitating the intervention of local residents and the police to free the trapped victims.
