Drug peddler held in EJH

SHILLONG, Nov 1: Police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler while he was journeying in a nigh super bus and from his possession Amphetamine tablets were recovered.
Police had earlier received inputs that a drug peddler, who was later identified as Sanju Singh, a resident of Harijan Colony, Them lewduh A, Shillong, was proceeding from Silchar to Shillong in a night super bus (AR-20-9990) carrying a consignment of illegal contraband.
Accordingly, naka was set up at Ladrymbai Datsimpein, NH-06, near Hill View Hotel and Restaurant.
In the wee hours, the bus was intercepted.
On conducting a search of the bus in the presence of independent witnesses, the suspected drug peddler was identified.
From one of the two backpacks in his possession, three brown packets were recovered which contained 149 blue colour sachets.
The sachets had orange/pink colour tablets, which during preliminary test gave a positive result for Amphetamine. The total net weight of the tablets was 2.771 kg.
