Shillong, November 2: Google has unveiled new Shopping features aimed at simplifying product image updates for small businesses, making it easier for them to attract potential customers.
Small merchants can now identify themselves by using a new “small business” attribute on Google Search and Google Maps. Products sold by businesses with this attribute will be labeled as “small business” in Search results, as well as on Google Maps.
These new labels will help shoppers narrow down their searches and consciously choose to support their favorite small businesses, according to Google.
The company is also rolling out “Product Studio,” a set of AI tools designed to assist merchants in creating and managing product imagery. This includes an experimental AI-powered scene generation feature that allows merchants to place products in various creative scenes using generative AI based on text descriptions.
Product Studio offers prompt ideas, including holiday-themed scenes, to spark inspiration. Users can easily customize or reuse prompts that have been successful in the past. Additionally, the tool allows for background removal and image resolution improvement with a single click.
Furthermore, starting this month in select countries, the knowledge panel displayed in retailer searches will provide additional shopping-related information. This information will include details such as current deals, shipping and return policies, customer service information, as well as ratings and reviews. The knowledge panel will be expanded to more merchants, offering a snapshot of their business and relevant information from Merchant Center and authoritative sources across the web.
These new features aim to enhance the visibility and accessibility of small businesses in Google’s shopping ecosystem.
