SHILLONG, Nov 5: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) has received an invitation from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for a discussion on their various demands. The meeting is likely to be held either on November 8 or 9.
HANM president Lamphrang Kharbani announced on Sunday that the MHA authorities had extended an invitation to them after their November 3 protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Kharbani said he will lead a delegation of six members of HANM to meet with MHA officials in order to have specific discussions about the demands for the implementation of the ILP in Meghalaya, the inclusion of the Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, and a peaceful resolution of the long-standing interstate border dispute with Assam.
