I-League returns to Shillong

SHILLONG, Nov 6: Shillong Lajong FC secured a return to the I-League for the 2023/24 season after finishing as runners up in the Second Division I-League after 4 years absence in the national tournament.
The Reds started off their 2023/24 I-League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mohammedan SC at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium in West Bengal on the November 3.
Shillong Lajong FC is all set to begin their home campaign with the North-East Derby against Manipur’s Neroca FC on November 9, 2023 at 2pm at the SSA Stadium, Shillong.
This season the Reds squad consists of some youth and experienced players returning back to the club. In addition four foreigners have joined the Lajong ranks to bolster their chances in the tournament.
The Reds have recruited Brazilian duo of Daniel Goncalves and Renan Paulino along with the two forwards Abdou Karim Samb of Senegal and Takuto Miki of Japan.
For the first time in their history, Shillong Lajong FC have registered a maximum number of 21 local players in their squad for the I-League campaign.
Some of these players have come up from the youth academy of the club itself and few of these players have already made their I-League debut against Mohammedan.
The tickets for the home game against Neroca FC will go on sale from November 7 onwards and available at the Electronic Centre (Police Bazaar), Cafe Shillong (Laitumkhrah) and the SSA Ticket Counter.
