After gangrape of workers at Agra homestay, five arrested

Shillong, November 13: A woman employed at a homestay in Agra has accused five individuals, including a female, of gang rape, according to the police.

As per IANS, The victim, 25 years old, reported the creation of a compromising video of her, leading to subsequent blackmail. She detailed being coerced into alcohol consumption and suffering an assault involving a broken glass bottle on her head.

The accused face charges not only for rape but also for attempted murder, stated the police. They responded swiftly to a late-night call from the victim on October 11, swiftly apprehending the suspects at the homestay. ACP Archana Singh confirmed the arrest of four men and one woman involved, emphasizing forthcoming medical examinations and legal proceedings.

The homestay, a rented property, has been cordoned off by authorities. Mohit Sharma from the Basai police post outlined the victim’s account, detailing the rape, physical assault, and coercion she endured. Charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and The Immoral Traffic Prevention Act have been filed in response to the incident.
