Shillong, Nov 12: The eagerly anticipated commencement of the Shillong Premier League (SPL) and First Division, the top two tiers of the Shillong Sports Association’s football hierarchy, is now slated for the second week of January 2024. This announcement comes as the SSA strives to ensure a seamless start to the long-awaited football season.
The Shillong Sports Association has modified its initial decision regarding player loans for SPL clubs. Originally setting the limit at five players from lower division clubs, the association has now revised the figure down to a maximum of three players. This adjustment is aimed at maintaining a competitive balance within the league and fostering fair play among participating teams.
Sawmer SC, and the runners-up, Nongthymmai SC, have both earned promotion to the SPL.
