Baby show at Pomlum PHC

SHILLONG, Nov 15: As part of the National Milk Day Celebration 2023, a baby show competition for children below 2 years was organised at Pomlum Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Mylliem C&RD Block on Wednesday.
The competition was organised by the Directorate of Dairy Development under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department in collaboration and coordination with the office of Senior Medical and Health Officer, Pomlum PHC.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director, Directorate of Dairy Development, SMM Sangma, highlighted the significance of celebrating the day.
He stressed on the importance of dairy development in the state which is one of the sectors that generates employment opportunities for the youths.
Assistant Director of Directorate of Dairy Development, KM Lawriniang, spoke about the benefits of consuming milk and milk products.
Senior Medical & Health Officer of Pomlum PHC, Dr DP Syiem spoke about the importance of immunisation in protection against some of the most devastating and infectious diseases.
She highlighted the importance of immunisation which helps protect future generations from several infectious diseases.
She encouraged parents to come to PHCs and health sub centres to learn more about the different medication/vaccination provided to the children.
A Short Skit was also performed by 1st year students of GNM of Civil Hospital, Shillong, on the importance of immunisation for a child.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the baby show competition.
