Shillong, Nov 15: PFR Football Academy and Mylliem Lum SC will meet in the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2023 after both won their respective semifinals at First Ground, Polo, here on Wednesday.
PFR pipped Meghalaya Police 1-0 in the early kick-off while Mylliem Lum were 2-1 victors over Nongkseh SC in the second match.
Defeat ends MLP’s six-game winning streak this season where they won all five of their Group A matches and then sailed through the quarterfinals. PFR’s Thymmaibor Mukhim (63′) was the lone scorer in today’s match. PFR have only conceded one goal all season and the police found it impossible to get past them today.
Later, there were two goals inside the first 10 minutes, with Eliastar Nongsiej (6′) scoring early for Mylliem Lum only for Jowel Khongdup (9′) to equalise three minutes later. However, Nongsiej (88′) was to find the winner late in the game.
