SHILLONG, Nov 21: Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) organised INSA popular lecture on ‘Detailed studies of plant pathogens can lead to novel means of disease control at 6th Mile, Upper Shillong.
During the programme, Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, mentioned that IBSD is organizing such programmes in the Northeast to popularise new ideas and concepts of science and to inculcate scientific temperament among students as well as researchers and faculties for the development of bioresources of the region.
The lecture was delivered by Prof Steven E Lindow, University of California, Berkeley, who highlighted the research work on Xylella fastidiosa which causes major diseases of grape, citrus, olive, almond and many other major crop plants. He highlighted various examples of plant pathogens which can lead to novel means of disease control.
