Shillong, Nov 23: The 29th State Karate Championship 2023 is set to be hosted by the All Meghalaya Karate-do Association (AMKA) at the Indoor Stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Polo Ground, in December.
This eagerly awaited two-day event, scheduled for December 15 and 16, has garnered significant anticipation from karate enthusiasts of all ages.
Supported by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, the championship is poised to attract participation from numerous karatekas, spanning the age spectrum from under-10 to the senior level.The upcoming championship will showcase both kumite (sparring) and kata (demonstration of form) categories, encompassing both team and individual competitions, with divisions based on age and weight.
The event promises a dynamic display of skill and prowess as participants engage in spirited contests across these categories.
In the previous edition, the Sports Authority of India, Shillong, clinched the coveted overall men’s team title, while AMKA’s own team emerged victorious in the women’s championship.
