Meghalaya ASHA workers call of strike

Shillong, Nov 24: The Meghalaya Accredited Social Health Activist Workers Union (MASHAWU) on Friday decided to call off their indefinite sit-in-demonstration cum protest march at the Main Secretariat which is schedule to be held from November 27.

While speaking to reporters after their meeting held at the Golflink community hall, MASHAWU president, Marajune Myrsing however said that they were not yet able to decide whether to accept the offer of the state government to hike their monthly honorarium from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 with the implementation of Community Base Health Incentives.

It may be recalled that the state government decided not to accept the demand of the ASHA workers to increase their monthly honorarium from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000.
Myrsing also informed that the ASHAs will immediately resume their normal duties.
