SHILLONG, Nov 24: The Meghalaya Police department will benefit from having a large fleet of vehicles and two-wheelers to aid in operations.
On Friday, 180 bikes, 80 Boleros, and 6 cranes were flagged off by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
According to the CM, this is the Police Department’s largest single order vehicle procurement in the state’s history.
“These cars and motorbikes will make it easier for our police officers to move around, carry out their jobs quickly, and provide better services to the public,” the chief minister stated.
Along with providing computers, laptops, and other IT equipment to the officers in the various districts, the government also distributed equipment for the Shillong Traffic Police.
He declared, “We are continuing our efforts to reform our Police Department by providing infrastructure, and this significant procurement will encourage the team further in their service to the people of the state.”
The vehicles have an approximate total cost of Rs 13 crore.
It goes without saying that the flagged-off fleet is more than just equipment; it is a promise to protect, a ray of hope, and resiliency. Meghalaya Police tweeted, “With unending gratitude, Meghalaya Police vows to wield these tools with honour, ensuring a shield of safety for everyone.”
