10 urban PHCs in Lumparing in the offing

By Our Reporter SHILLONG, Dec 13: As many as 10 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) are scheduled to be set up in Lumparing. A meeting-cum-joint inspection in connection with the construction of these UPHCs was held at Lumparing on Tuesday, which was attended by South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai. Sanctioned by the Health department at a cost of Rs 4.99 crore, the initiative was recommended by the local MLA. Others who were present at the meeting include District Medical and Health Officer, East Khasi Hills, Dr A Lyngdoh, Executive Engineer of Health Wing, RA Wanniang, officials of Health department, Rangbah Shnong of Upper Lumparing, HB Wahlang, Ranbah Shnong of Lower Lumparing, Doncaster Shabong, Rangbah Shnong of Riat-Laban-Kynjat Phutbol, Shaiphar Wahlang, besides all Rangbah Dongs of three Dorbar Shnong of Lumparing Pyllun (Greater Lumparing), members of Lumparing Sports Club and locals. In his address, Shullai thanked the Dorbar Shnong Lumparing and Lumparing Sports Club for donating the required land free of cost to the Health department for the construction of the said project. He assured the gathering that the implementation of this project has begun and ensured that the project should be completed within 30 months.
