AMPATI, Dec 15: The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Meghalaya launched the ABDM Scan and Share and eHospital (NEXTGEN) at the Ampati Civil Hospital on Friday, taking a significant step towards advancing digital health care services to the people of South West Garo Hills.
The system was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Y.W. Momin in the presence of Denisha Momin, Medical Superintendent of Ampati Civil Hospital, Enoch A. Sangma, a scientist at NIC, Meghalaya, Suparna Hajong, SDMHO, and Sandy Osmond Khongmawpat, State Programme Coordinator along with T.N. Sangma, District Nodal Officer, ABDM.
During the inaugural session, the ABDM team led by Khongmawpat conducted a live demonstration on the implementation of scan and share, a QR code-based solution introduced by the National Health Authority through ABDM at empanelled health facilities. This helps in dealing with each patient seamlessly by enabling them to scan and share their demographic data with consent and streamline the registration process, thereby minimising queues during peak OPD registration hours.
A brief orientation session was held at the hospital conference hall, where Enoch Sangma explained the basic features and modules of eHospital. The eHospital facility has been introduced in seven public hospitals in Meghalaya with Ampati Civil Hospital being the second in the Garo Hills to implement scan and share and eHospital (NEXTGEN) after Tura Civil Hospital.
ABDM selected Ampati Civil Hospital for launching the system as South West Garo Hills has done about 80,000 Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) registrations. The system will initially be applied only for the registration process, it was told. ABHA is a unique identity for beneficiary’s health with a 14-digit random number that acts as a health record identifier, helping in minimizing prescription and clinical errors. ABHA registration in the South West Garo Hills district was started in November 2022. ADC Momin applauded the Health Department and ABDM for coming up with such a citizen-centric system for the people of the district and called for concerted efforts to educate the people about eHospital to create an optimal healthcare experience for all.
Dr. Momin underlined the importance of information technology in the healthcare management system and expressed her pride in the launch of the scan and share and eHospital system at Ampati Civil Hospital. She hailed this achievement as a historic milestone for the medical fraternity and the people of the district as a whole.
ABDM is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting digital health services and achieving universal health coverage across India.
