One held with smuggled gold worth over Rs 1.4 crore

SHILLONG, Dec 15: Acting on specific information, Customs sleuths seized over 2 kg of gold valued at Rs 1.42 crore in the market and arrested one individual.
According to a Customs official, they received information was received that a sizable quantity of gold of foreign origin smuggled across the border would be carried in a car to Barpeta, following they intercepted a vehicle at Diengpasoh on December 13 and seized 20 pieces of gold, weighing 2331.82 grams valued at Rs 1.42 crore.
