Shillong, Dec 16: In Saturday’s I-League clash held in Srinagar, Lajong suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Kashmir. The Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Issah set the tone for Real Kashmir with an early lead in the 5th minute.
However, Lajong swiftly responded, with Karim Samb netting his second goal of the season in the 16th minute, leaving the score tied at 1-1 as the teams headed into halftime.
The second half saw Real Kashmir regain the lead in the 55th minute courtesy of striker Gnohere Krizo. The match was effectively sealed in the 69th minute when Mohammad Inam, a midfielder for Real Kashmir, secured three points with a decisive strike.
Following this loss, Lajong currently hold the fifth position in the league standings, having accumulated 16 points from ten matches. Looking ahead, on December 23, Shillong Lajong will return to their home ground at the SSA Stadium in Shillong to face Namdhari FC in their next encounter.
In the aftermath of their setback against Real Kashmir, Shillong Lajong faces a challenging climb in the league standings.
With determination and strategic adjustments, they aim to rebound from this defeat in their upcoming match against Namdhari FC on December 23.
