SHILLONG, Dec 22: In a momentous recognition of leadership and contributions to the field of education, Director of IIM Shillong, Prof D P Goyal has been conferred with the ‘Best B School Director’ award at the BW Businessworld Business School Summit 2023.
The accolade, bestowed by the well-known Business World magazine, commends Prof Goyal for his outstanding commitment to education and exemplary leadership.
The summit, which featured an insightful panel on leadership, and technology, served as a platform to discuss the evolving landscape of business education.
Prof Goyal played a pivotal role in driving the discourse, sharing his expertise and vision for the future of business education.
Under Prof Goyal’s leadership, the institute has witnessed significant milestones, most notably the successful transition to a new campus from IIM Shillong Nonghymmai to Umsawli.
The new campus boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the U Soso Tham residences, Sports facilities, & an upcoming new academic block, and Dr APJ Kalam Centre.
International collaborations have been a hallmark of Prof Goyal’s tenure, with IIM Shillong signing MoUs with more than 20 international B Schools that enhanced the international student exchange programmes.
The success reflects the institute’s commitment to fostering global perspectives and enriching the educational experience for its students.
The PGP batch of 2023-25 has seen a significant increase in student intake, reaching an enrolment of 390 students. Prof Goyal has also spearheaded the introduction of certificate courses, including the Business Management Programme for Defence officers, Post Graduate Certificate in HRM, and Post Graduate Certification in Advanced General Management besides successfully starting 2 year MBA for Working Executives in 2020 and a Doctoral Programme for Working Professionals.
With a robust commitment to research and academic excellence, Prof Goyal has supervised 15 PhD research scholars, published over 60 research papers in reputable peer-reviewed journals, and led several sponsored research projects.
His literary contributions include more than a dozen books, including a highly popular textbook on Management Information Systems.
The accolade not only recognises Prof D P Goyal’s achievements but also highlights the commitment of IIM Shillong to excellence in education and leadership.
