Umden CnRD block road to be widened soon

SHILLONG, Dec 22: Deputy Chief Minister also in-charge of PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong has assured to sanction the widening of the 59 km Nongpoh, Umden, Sonapur road in a phase wise manner while also look into the demand for the creation of Umden CnRD block. Informing this, UDP leader and Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem said, “We have demanded for the speedy sanctioning of widening of the road from Nongpoh, Umden, Sonapur for the length of 59 kms”.
He said besides that there is also a demand for the creation of Umden CnRD block to be carved out of Umling CnRD block which is biggest block in Ri-Bhoi housing 223 villages.
“Considering to bring governance closer to the people, I have requested the Deputy Chief Minister to hear our appeal and he has given the assurance that the 59 km-long road will be done in single phase or two phases and it will be sanctioned very soon,” he said.
He further said that the Deputy CM has also assured to look into the demand for the creation of the Umden CnRD block.
Hoping that the demands will be materialised in days to come, Syiem said if these two issues are taken care of, it will benefit the people of the district in a huge way.
