Biker killed in road mishap

TURA, Jan 2: In a tragic incident, a biker lost his life after the rear wheels of the truck he was trying to overtake ran over him at Babupara in Tura, on Monday.
According to police, the incident took place at 1:40 a.m. when the victim identified as Grandstone R Marak of Dombagre, Mellim, South West Garo Hills, along with a pillion rider tried to overtake an overloaded cement truck. However, the bike which was travelling towards the Tura Bazar area hit another vehicle coming from the opposite direction resulting in him falling off and being run over by the rear wheels of the truck. While the mishap which police attributed to overspeeding, led to the rider dying on the spot, the pillion rider escaped with his life.
