Shillong, Jan 7: Traffic movement along the Shillong-Dawki road was severely disrupted on Sunday evening.
The major traffic jams were caused as recovery vans were at work trying to pull out a truck that had fallen into a deep gorge at Rngain near Lyngkyrdem one month ago.
People were stuck on the road for hours. Many tourists who were visiting Mawlynong and Dawki were also stranded.
It was said that three recovery vans were trying to pull the truck from the gorge since Sunday morning.
Sources informed that only light motor vehicles were allowed to ply alternatively from both sides adding that heavy vehicles were not allowed to ply due to the narrow lane of the road.
