The GSU, Western Zone North, Dadenggre lamented that not a single resident from the area has been appointed as the SDO or SDPO of the sub-division since it first received its status in 1982.
The union said that although it has been 41 years since it achieved the civil sub-division status; only outsiders who do not speak the Garo language were posted to the area, the statement said.
It added that this has been posing difficulties for the people of the area due to the language barrier.
Pointing out that the sub-division also has seen little development since it came into being; the union sought the appointment of a local SDO and SDPO for the region.
