Highway worker run over by dumper at Quinine

Nongpoh, January 13: A worker engaged by the  National Highway Authority of India lost his life after he had been hit by a dumper moving in reverse gear on Saturday evening at Quinine village on National Highway 6 in Ri Bhoi District.

The deceased, identified as Bilyfullstar Marbaniang (35), a resident of Umran Dairy in Ri Bhoi District, met a tragic end during the unfortunate event.

Sources reveal that the incident transpired around 3 pm. The worker, assigned to facilitate the free flow of traffic during ongoing repair work, was fatally run over by a dumper  bearing registration number MP65 H0287.  The driver of the dumper reportedly fled the scene following the incident.

The body of the deceased has been expeditiously transported to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination. Ri Bhoi Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the accident and launched a manhunt to apprehend the driver.
