Vehicle veers off road in SWKH; driver killed

MAWKYRWAT, Jan 24: A 40-year-old man died after the vehicle (ML 10-7040) he was driving veered off the road and fell in a drain on the Nongstoin-Wahkaji road in Rangblang Sahsniang village, 25 km from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills.
Police said the incident took place on Tuesday night, and the vehicle along with the driver was discovered by locals the next day around 6 am. The victim was identified as Petar Sohphoh (40) of Pyndengrei village, West Khasi Hills.
Inquest was conducted and the body was forwarded to Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The family, however, has sought exemption from autopsy.
