BSF seizes cough syrup, sugar consignments

SHILLONG, Jan 30: In different operations conducted on Monday, BSF troops foiled illegal smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangla border and confiscated Phensedyl and Sugar which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
Responding to inputs, the troops of 172 Battalion BSF seized 190 bottles of Phensedyl syrup while being smuggled in East Jaintia Hills.
In another operation, carried out by BSF and Meghalaya Police, more than 18,000 kg of sugar was seized from different bordering districts. The confiscated items were handed over to the respective Customs office and police station for further necessary legal action.
