108 services workers to get 6% hike

SHILLONG, Feb 7: Six per cent increment is what the 108 Ambulance Services workers will get when the state government delivers on its assurance made on Wednesday. This comes after a meeting between representatives of the 108 workers with Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
“Ideal situation would have been that the company should have been positioned and they should have been able to have all of these terms and conditions laid out before them as indicated in their extension of contracts,” Lyngdoh said.
The minister said that the government will ensure the workers’ six per cent increment which is due to them gets operationalised immediately.
She also assured to take up concerns on the rights of workers in unorganised sector pertaining to the number of holidays besides other terms and conditions.
“In the next one or two months, there should fastracking of the tender. We should get through with it in the interest of the workers,” she added.
Meanwhile, EMRI workers Union president Roypar Kharaswai said that they are pleased with the decision to approve the 6 per cent increment. Kharsawai reminded that during their general meeting, all the members had agreed to this demand of six per cent increment.
