Inaugural open-to-all badminton tourney in Umsning

Umsning, Feb 15: The Sports Committee, headed by P. Bang, and the Programme Committee, under the leadership of R. Pakyntein, joined forces to organize the first-ever open-to-all Badminton tournament at Balawan College, Umsning, Ri-Bhoi. The tournament, which ran from February 6 to 15, 2024, took place within the college campus.
The climax of the event unfolded on Thursday, with the final matches showcasing the talent and skill of the participants.
In the men’s category, Dr. (Fr) Laurence Kharluni, Principal of the College, emerged victorious, while Cornelius Lyngkhoi, a student, secured the runner-up position.
In the women’s category, Daphishisha Pathaw, a student, clinched the title of champion, with Shailyne Mawphniang finishing as the runner-up.
