CBI arrests passport officer, two APOs in bribery case
NEW DELHI, Feb 16: The CBI has arrested the regional passport officer of Jalandhar, Anup Singh, and two of his colleagues, Hari Om and Sanjay Srivastava for allegedly receiving bribe to issue a passport, officials said on Friday.During searches at their premises on Friday, the CBIseized cash amounting to more than Rs 20 lakh and incriminating documents, a spokesperson of the agency said in a statement.The CBI has registered the case against Hari Om on a complaint that he had allegedly demanded Rs 25,000 for issuing two passports.“It was alleged that the complainant had applied for fresh passports in respect of his granddaughter and grandson,” the CBI said.The official said according to the complainant, Hari Om informed him that the bribe amount was being accepted on the directions of the RPO and another APO, and it would be shared between them.After verification, CBI officials laid a trap and Hari Om was arrested while allegedly receiving the bribe. Man arrested for decapitating his wife, walking with her skull
BARABANKI (UP), Feb 16: Police on Friday arrested a man here for allegedly decapitating his wife and walking with her skull.Anil Kanojia, allegedly attacked his wife Vandana (28) with a cleaver following an argument in the morning and decapitated her head.In a fit of rage, the husband drenched in blood, picked up the severed skull and began walking towards the police station. A police team arrested him on his way, locals said.Police said, “Kanojia suspected his wife of adultery. The couple had estranged relations and they often used to argue. Prima facie it appears that he killed his wife in a gruesome manner following arguments in the morning.” Police have sent the body for a postmortem examination. (PTI)
