SHILLONG, Feb 27: BJP leader and South Shillong legislator, Sanbor Shullai, on Tuesday announced his endorsement of Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait as a BJP candidate for Shillong parliamentary seat by submitting a letter to the State BJP president, Rikman J Momin.
In his letter, Shullai expressed that a meeting of party workers was convened in South Shillong constituency, and it was unanimously agreed upon that the party should nominate a candidate capable of representing state’s interests, particularly those concerning the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
Dr Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait, a gold medalist in law, was chosen as the favoured candidate due to her educational and professional background.
Speaking on behalf of the South Shillong constituency, Shullai pledged full support to Nonglait’s candidacy. He urged all party members, elected officials, and residents of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, as well as non-tribal supporters, to back her nomination.
Shullai emphasised the need for a dynamic and articulate BJP leader to advocate for regional concerns at the national level.
It is pertinent to note here that the BJP has not yet announced the names of its candidates for the upcoming MP elections.
However, its political contemporaries such as the NPP and the UDP have already started campaigning.
