Apropos to the news item published in The Shillong Times (February 29) titled “EKH had most POCSO cases in 2023: Report”, the 703 cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills during the period 2014 to 2023. The error is regretted.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
