Shillong, March 15: In a thrilling day of cricket action at the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today, Marbisu CC and Pomshutia CC emerged victorious in closely contested matches.
Marbisu CC clinched a narrow seven-run victory against Thynroit CC, while Pomshutia CC secured a 14-run win over Mawphlang CC.
Opting to bat first in their encounter, Marbisu managed to post a competitive total of 122/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Dapkupar Nongrum was the top scorer with 24 runs, while Everest Warjri impressed with bowling figures of 2/21 in 4 overs. Despite a valiant effort from Thynroit in the chase, led by Osric Herbert Wanswett’s 36 off 34 deliveries, they fell short, finishing at 115/6. Shalen Kurbah’s 2/11 in 4 overs played a pivotal role in Marbisu’s triumph, with Kyntiewdorlang Sun earning the Player-of-the-Match award.
In the second match of the day, Pomshutia CC elected to bat after winning the toss, managing to set a target of 135/8 in 20 overs. Donkupar Syiemlieh top-scored with 22 runs off 14 deliveries, while Janailang Dohtdong claimed figures of 2/16 in 4 overs for Mawphlang. Despite Mawphlang’s efforts to chase down the target at a steady rate, they could only reach 121/7 by the end of their innings. Nativity Mawphlang contributed a run-a-ball 18, while Shembhalang Pyngrope’s impressive bowling performance of 3/19 earned him the Player of the Match award, although Donkupar’s contribution was also significant.The matches showcased remarkable displays of skill and determination from both teams, thrilling spectators with their competitive spirit and close finishes.
