TURA, March 17: Tura BJP MDC Bernard Marak has commended the Central Scheme Monitoring Committees (CSMCs) for the tremendous work being done to include names of beneficiaries who were been left out by conniving VEC secretaries from lists submitted to the C&RD Blocks as well as expose corruption.
“Villagers have revealed that thousands of families were left out from the list submitted to the Blocks by the VEC (Gram Panchayat) secretaries. To monitor, report and assist, CSMC has been formed at the VEC levels empowering the villagers to look after the implementation of the Centre schemes so that no families are left behind and that the deprived families avail the benefits,” said Bernard in a statement on Sunday.
The Tura MDC revealed that many families were left out by the gram sevaks and the blocks in the past but have been included now on active participation of the village-level committee.
“The deprived families were barred from availing the basic schemes like PMAY (BPL houses), NREGA (Job cards), RATION CARD, IHHL (Latrines), Pensions etc because there was no one to assist them on the field. Instead of collecting the details of the deprived families, the GS who were short-staffed in most of the C&RD blocks, asked the VEC secretaries to collect the names of the families on their behalf but in many villages VEC secretaries failed to include the genuine families who were supposed to get the benefits,” he said.
“At some point of the process, the names of the eligible families went missing from the list of beneficiaries as certain political workers decided in the office  whose names were supposed to be on the list. This has resulted in depriving the eligible families from availing the schemes at the Gram Panchayat levels,” alleged Bernard.
He added that in many cases, the deserving poor families, who were on the list, did not receive the scheme while there were cases of some beneficiaries who received schemes multiple times just because they were backed by political leaders.
“When we went to verify we found that some beneficiaries did not even know they were on the list. The PMAY beneficiaries who were supposed to complete their houses in 95 days remain incomplete as the second and third instalments have stopped coming from the state. The banks also are responsible for depriving the beneficiaries because they are yet to seed Aadhaar to the beneficiary bank accounts,” he added.
Bernard asserted that RTIs revealed even more anomalies in the implementation of central schemes.
“Many departments are not revealing the sub contractors and their details of JJM, PMGSY, NREGA suppliers etc because these contractors belonged to certain political parties. We will reveal all as we receive more information through CSMC. CSMC empowered the villagers to look after the deprived ones as it has its own call centre and web site which can be accessed only by its members to submit all reports and assist the deprived families in rural villages. Viksit Bharat is the inspiration which is driving the rural people towards the vision of Narendra Modi into visible transformation,” asserted the Tura MDC.
