SHILLONG, March 21: Ri-Bhoi Police has detained two more persons in connection with the IED explosion case, while a fresh case has been registered for hoisting of the HNLC flag on National Highway 6 in the district in August 2023.
Ri-Bhoi SP, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa on Thursday said during their interrogation, it has come to light that the proscribed outfit is indulging in brain washing of innocent youth by unleashing a vicious propaganda with an objective to keep their extortion business running.
“Police is also investigating if any financial contributions have been made to the banned outfit. Any person having association of any kind will be questioned and legal liability will be fixed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” he said.
“All nefarious activities of HNLC are being conducted through social media and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) platforms. All are advised that if they get any contact/call from HNLC they are to immediately inform the police and block the profile/number making contact,” the SP added.
The police also released a video of an alleged telephonic conversation between HNLC military commander Sanbor Pala and one of the main accused in the Ri-Bhoi IED blast recovery case.
