Shillong, March 23: In a thrilling display of cricket prowess, Laitjem CC emerged victorious against Mawryngkneng CC with an impressive 10-wicket win during the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League held in Smit yesterday. Meanwhile, Thangsning CC secured a commendable victory, triumphing over Pomshutia CC by five wickets.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Laitjem CC showcased a flawless performance, restricting their opponents to a meager 47 runs in 18.3 overs. The eventual Player of the Match, Arnold Shadap, displayed exceptional bowling skills, claiming figures of 3/4 in 3 impeccable overs. With a determined effort, Laitjem CC successfully chased down the target in just 3.5 overs, without losing a single wicket. Marken B Kharkongor led the charge with an unbeaten 31 runs from 15 balls.
In the subsequent match, Thangsning CC elected to field first after winning the toss. Pomshutia CC, batting for their full quota of 20 overs, managed to post a total of 76/9. Aristerwell Suting showcased resilience with a notable knock of 33 runs from 51 deliveries, while Richard Marx shone with the ball, claiming figures of 3/11 in 4 overs.
Despite losing five wickets during the chase, Thangsning CC emerged victorious in 15.2 overs. Richard’s all-round performance, contributing 27 runs from 36 deliveries, earned him the title of Player of the Match.
Although Shembhalang Pyngrope delivered an impressive bowling performance for Pomshutia CC, securing figures of 4/5 in 4 overs, it wasn’t enough to sway the tide in their favour.In conclusion, the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League witnessed an exhilarating day of cricketing action, with Laitjem CC and Thangsning CC emerging as the triumphant teams in their respective matches.
