RDA’s Robertjune Kharjahrin second candidate to declare pending criminal case against him

SHILLONG, March 26: Congress candidate and sitting Lok Sabha member from the Shillong seat, Vincent H. Pala continues to hold on to his position as one of the richest politicians in the state by some distance.
Shillong’s Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) candidate Robertjune Kharjahrin is the second candidate after NPP’s Ampareen Lyngdoh to declare pending criminal cases against them.
According to Pala’s affidavit, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president and his spouse have assets worth more than Rs 100 crore.
The gross total value of his moveable assets is Rs 1,59,27,412 and that of his spouse is Rs 91,50,217.
Pala owns a Rolex wristwatch worth Rs 8 lakh, four iPhones worth Rs 4 lakh apart from a 0.38 revolver worth Rs 6 lakh. He also owns a double-barrel gun worth Rs 50,000.
Pala also owns eight vehicles and six plots of non-agricultural land while his spouse owns eight plots of non-agricultural land.
The approximate current market value of his non-agricultural land stands at Rs 87,50,00,000 while that of his wife is Rs 26,55,00,000.
The approximate current market value of his residential building is Rs 3,75,00,000 and of his wife is Rs 5,50,00,000.
Kharjahrin’s affidavit says a criminal case was filed against him at the Sadar Police Station under Section 102 of the Meghalaya Police Act of 2010.
The case pertains to causing nuisance and annoyance in a public place on December 8, 2017, for protesting in front of the chief minister’s bungalow. No charges were framed against him.
The grand total value of Kharjahrin’s immovable assets is Rs 19,264,94 while the total current market value of his properties is Rs 50,00,000.
The total value of the moveable assets of Tura’s sitting MP and NPP candidate, Agatha Sangma is Rs 52,78,453. She does not own a vehicle but owns 4.36 acres of agricultural and non-agricultural land.
The approximate current market value of these two pieces of land is Rs 28,65,750. She also owns two commercial buildings whose approximate total current market value is Rs 2,58,51,775.
Her Congress rival candidate, Saleng Sangma owns four vehicles including a Rubicon worth Rs 63,68,050. He also owns a 0.32-bore pistol worth Rs 2,50,000 and a 0.12-bore single-barrel gun worth Rs 90,000.
The gross total value of his moveable assets is Rs 1,80,49,264. He owns three plots of non-agricultural land and two residential buildings whose total market value is Rs 2,20,00,000.
