MIT varsity’s week-long prog showcases diverse talents
SHILLONG, March 28: The MIT University of Meghalaya was filled with energy during the Jovan University Fest, a week-long celebration aimed at promoting social well-being, teamwork, physical fitness, and showcasing diverse talents. The festivities commenced on March 18, marking the beginning of a series of activities to showcase the talents of students and articulate their thoughts including extempore speeches and debates centred on the theme of ‘Cross Culture and Tradition’ celebrating the rich tapestry of their cultures. The second day brought a vibrant and sporty atmosphere to the campus with students dressed in sporty attire all set to take part in sports activities including football, basketball, and Tug of War, shifting towards a more physically engaging day, building spirit of unity and enthusiasm. The third day took a nostalgic turn with the ‘Back to School’ theme, inviting students to dress up in school uniforms from their past. In line with the theme, students engaged in a series of classic and recreational activities. An added twist to the day was a Stand-up Comedy event — a chance for students to showcase their wit and humour. The fourth day featured vibrant celebrations and culinary creativity, as students participated in Face Painting displaying intricate face designs, and showcasing their passion for food preparing a variety of dishes at the Food Fest stalls. All students embraced the spirit of nostalgia, dressing up in outfits reminiscent of past eras, for the ‘Retro Attire’ for the day. The grand finale of the Jovan University Fest came to a close on March 23 at the U Soso Tham Auditorium. The highlight of the day was the prize distribution ceremony celebrating the achievements of the competition winners. Students also sang group songs and danced to the beats on the occasion.
KVK’s training for organic farmers culminates in WGH
TURA, March 28: A three-day training programme, organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Garo Hills, for the organic farmers of the district, culminated at Sangsanggre on Thursday. The programme was participated by 40 tribal farmers from five villages of the district. Similarly, Dean of College of Community Science, Dr. Jyoti Vastrad, attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest. On the last day of the training programme, farmers were taken for an exposure visit to the biofertiliser laboratory at MTTC, College of Community Science, CAU, Tura campus, for the enhancement of their knowledge on biofertiliser production and its use in different crops.
