Scooterist, pillion killed on NH-6

NONGPOH, March 31: Tragedy struck on NH-6 near Tyndai Resort on Sunday as a fatal accident claimed the lives of a rider and pillion rider. The incident, which occurred around 3:30 pm, involved multiple vehicles and resulted in devastating consequences.
A scooty, bearing registration number ML05 AB 5721, and carrying Khrawbor Pakma and David Sajem, collided with a car registered under the number ML05K 2600, driven by B Marbiangbor Thangkiew. The collision proved fatal, leading to further chaos on the busy highway.
The impact caused the scooty to lose control, resulting in a collision with the rear tire of a truck, registered under number ML 11 8622, driven by Iohbor Lapasam, which was ahead of them. Tragically, both the scooterist and the pillion rider suffered fatal injuries, with their heads completely crushed by the rear tire of the truck upon impact.
Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with Ri-Bhoi Police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The bodies have been transported to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, where further legal procedures will be observed.
