SHILLONG, March 31: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has managed to give a ray of hope to the people of the state since its foundation is based on the concept of clean politics, party president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said on Sunday. He said the party will protect and safeguard the interests of the people in the state.
Speaking at an election rally at Saiden under Umsning constituency to drum up support for party candidate Ricky AJ Syngkon, the VPP chief said the party has managed to give a ray of hope to the people.
According to him, the party believes in good governance without any partiality.
The VPP chief also said that the people need to realize their constitutional rights in a democratic set-up where they have the power to decide whom to elect as the Rangbah Shnong, MLA or MP.
Syngkon said VPP was founded on November 19, 2021,  since they realized the need to have new party which will try to provide a new direction for the good of the state and its people.
According to him, the VPP is not a political party whose sole objective is to contest elections.
“The party advocates for clean governance which has been absent in the past 50 years since Statehood,” Syngkon said.
The VPP candidate said that there is a lack of direction in the past of 50 years and expressed hope that the party would be able to bring about a positive change with the support of the people.
