WJH inter-school athletics meet in May

Jowai, April 4: The West Jaintia Hills District Sports Officer is gearing up to host the highly anticipated annual District Level Inter-School Athletics Meet 2024 at the esteemed Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Jowai.
Scheduled to span three days from May 1st to May 3rd, 2024, the event will feature competitions across various age categories, including U-14, U-16, and U-18, catering to both boys and girls from the district.
Participants vying for the U-14 category must have a birthdate falling between November 30, 2010, and November 30, 2012. Meanwhile, the U-16 category welcomes contenders born between November 30, 2008, and November 30, 2010. Similarly, the U-18 age group extends to individuals born between November 30, 2006, and November 30, 2008.
Entries for the meet must be submitted by April 18, with athlete screenings scheduled for April 22 at the Kiang Nangbah Indoor Stadium in Jowai from 9 AM to 4 PM. A pivotal meeting is also set for April 25 at 1 PM, gathering teachers, representatives, and school officials at the DSO’s office.
Interested schools can acquire entry forms during office hours from the DSO’s office. Athletes are required to furnish their original Aadhaar card, birth certificate, and a photocopy of their birth certificate from the Municipal Board/CHC/PHC during the screening process.
It’s imperative to note that no new athlete enrollments will be entertained following the screening. Additionally, each athlete must provide a passport-sized photograph alongside their form. Submission of Aadhaar card, birth certificate, and, if applicable, AFI-UID registration is mandatory for all participants to facilitate age verification.With meticulous planning and preparation underway, this event promises to be a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and determination, fostering a culture of sports excellence within the district. As the countdown to the meet begins, organizers, participants, and supporters alike look forward to a memorable and successful event.
