Assamese cultural events in city today

SHILLONG, April 5: The Shillong Assamese Ladies’ Welfare Club will host a Jeng Bihu and Bihu Bazaar at Assam Club premises, Laban, on Sunday.
According to a statement, the event will feature cultural delights.
The programme will commence at 11 am with the opening of the Bihu Bazaar Food Festival, which will offer a variety of Assamese culinary delights.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase ethnic handwoven fabrics from Assam, including Gamosa and Mekhela Chador,” the statement said.
A Jeng Bihu competition is scheduled for 3 pm, during which young women will perform traditional Bihu songs and dance.
“The event will also feature Husori performances,” the statement said.
